Durango's iAM Music Fest 2026 Blends Student Bands, National Acts for Charity
Student musicians from the iAM MUSIC Institute share main stages with SunSquabi across eight downtown Durango venues April 30-May 3.

Somewhere between the electronic funk of Colorado trio SunSquabi and the banjo runs of Kyle Tuttle, a group of student musicians will be waiting for their stage call. That's the point.
iAM Music Fest returns to downtown Durango for its 11th year April 30 through May 3, 2026, bringing more than 25 artists across eight indoor and outdoor venues to the city center for four days of live music, art, and community programming. The festival also serves as the primary fundraiser for the iAM MUSIC Institute, a Durango-based nonprofit that in the past year provided music education to more than 400 youth musicians, supported over 300 hours of student internships, awarded $10,000 in scholarships, and delivered more than $20,000 worth of free instrument access to young artists.
SunSquabi and the Jeremy Garrett Bluegrass Band, featuring banjo virtuoso Kyle Tuttle, headline the 2026 lineup. The roster stretches across genres from electronic funk to bluegrass, Americana, and local indie, with supporting acts including the Taylor Scott Band, Halle Tomlinson, and Desiderata filling out a bill designed to draw both Four Corners regulars and visitors from farther out. Select stages will offer free programming throughout the weekend.
Student bands from the Institute perform on the same main stages as the touring acts, not in side showcases or youth tents. That placement is deliberate. "For many students, this festival represents what's possible," said Julianne Marqua. "It shows them that music can build community, open doors, and change lives."
The Institute was founded in 2011 by bassist Jesse Ogle and vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ashley Edwards. Its free instrument rental program is built to remove financial barriers that would otherwise keep young musicians off the stage entirely.
Weekend passes are currently available at $80 through iammusic.us. The eight-venue layout routes audiences through Durango's downtown core, spreading performances across compact city-center stages and outdoor setups that push foot traffic into neighborhood businesses during what organizers view as an underused window just ahead of summer. With the full lineup already posted, travelers have roughly three weeks to build a specific itinerary rather than show up without a plan.
