Shark NewsCam gave GTA RP reporters a faster way to stage live coverage, tying the tool to an ox_inventory item, a single command, and an optimized build that the author says idles at 0.00ms. That combination matters in servers where Weazel News-style scenes have to keep pace with police chases, hostage calls, and public events without turning the broadcaster into a technical bottleneck.

Posted on April 13, 2026 in the Cfx.re FiveM releases forum, the resource is billed as a refreshed take on RowDog’s original script. General_Shark says the NUI elements and camera are derived from RowDog’s version, while the rest of the script was built from scratch. The result is aimed squarely at roleplay communities that want their news desk to feel like part of the world, not a separate camera add-on dragged in for screenshots.

The feature set pushes in that direction. Shark NewsCam includes multiple camera modes, an animated news header for in-character reporting, a movie mode with no HUD for cleaner footage, and overlay editing through /editnews. Version 1.1 tightened the hide-HUD function, improved zoom behavior, refined the animation exit, added a boom mic item, added a microphone item, added an editnews export, and disabled depth of field on the camera. Those changes make the resource easier to use in motion, especially when a reporter has only a few seconds to catch a scene and roll with it.

That focus on usability fits a wider trend across GTA RP servers: civilian jobs are being built out with the same care once reserved for police and criminal gameplay. RowDog’s original Weazel News Camera and Mic dates back to June 4, 2018, and an early June 5 update added breaking-news text along the bottom. By 2022, community discussion had already identified the Weazel News reporter cam overlay as a scaleform called breaking_news, which helps explain why overlay control has become such a priority for server owners and script makers alike.

The niche only grew more crowded from there. A paid Advanced Weazel News Job release on August 14, 2023 advertised a functional camera with configurable Weazel News overlay and OX Lib, OX Target, and OX Inventory support, showing that this corner of FiveM has matured into a real infrastructure layer for civilian storytelling. Shark NewsCam lands in that same lane, but with a lighter setup and a cleaner workflow.

Interest showed up fast. On April 15, 2026, a user replied that the script looked good and that they might add it to Specter with credit. For RP crews that treat press briefings, live breaking news, and event recaps as core server culture, Shark NewsCam reads like a practical upgrade to the whole media side of the map.
