Chicago Area Beer Calendar Heats Up This Winter and Spring
A string of festival and museum events announced this week lays out a busy winter and early spring for Chicago area craft beer fans, with major outdoor festivals, museum tastings and month long countywide promotions across February. These events offer chances to sample seasonal beers, connect with local brewers and enjoy taproom markets while museums and design exhibits put craft beer culture on display.
Organizers revealed a slate of events that will keep the local craft beer scene active from January through April. Headlining the announcements is the Westmont Winter Beer Festival scheduled for February 14 at Ty Warner Park in Westmont. The fest will feature dozens of breweries from Chicagoland and beyond, heated tents, bonfires, outdoor seating and food trucks, with multiple ticket tiers available in the announcement to fit different priorities.
Lake County will run a February Flavor Fest that turns the month into a countywide celebration of food and drink. Restaurants, breweries, distilleries and wineries will present special offers, pairings and events throughout February, providing a convenient way to explore multiple venues while supporting local businesses.
On February 28 the Chicago Beer Festival will return to the Field Museum with more than 65 breweries pouring seasonal beers inside a venue that also grants access to museum exhibits. Early admission and specialty beer options are part of the festival format, creating opportunities for timed entry and premium pours.
Cultural programming around beer gains prominence with Design on Draft, an exhibition at the Design Museum of Chicago that runs through April 13, 2026. The show highlights beer related design from can art to taproom architecture and includes a hands on Design Your Own Label section that invites visitors to engage with packaging and branding.
Smaller scale but community oriented events also populate the calendar. Streetz Artz Alliance announced a slate of free brewery markets and makers events hosted at local breweries in early 2026, presenting low cost ways to meet brewers and makers. Homebrewers and club members have dates to mark, including CHAOS Brew Club’s Stout and Chili Night on January 31.
Practical considerations matter as outdoor and museum venues combine with indoor taprooms.
