Shippingport Brewing, the female-owned operation behind the Sally Forth Taproom at 1211 W. Main St. in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood, announced it will close its taproom on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, saying the decision followed “insurmountable” pressures. Shippingport said on social media, “our industry and the economy have posed significant and compounding challenges to us in the past two years that have become insurmountable. ...Thanks for every step of it, and we look forward to celebrating what we built together right up to the end,” and set the final day for Feb. 28.

The post recalled the brewery’s start in Portland and its taproom hours, noting, “We opened our doors in our cozy taproom off the beaten path in June of 2021 with a passion and dedication to serving amazing beer (and) food in an environment dedicated to community,” and listing regular hours as Thursday–Saturday, 5–10 p.m. Shippingport also highlighted its local identity by noting the name’s origin, tied to Shippingport Island “just off the shore of the banks of the Ohio River,” and said it had occupied the space for “almost (five) years.”

Shippingport’s announcement described operational ties with Ten20 Craft Brewery, saying the brewery had relied on that partnership for production: Shippingport’s post noted the relationship “where our brewery staff have been making our core brands since the start.” The social-media message framed Ten20 as the site where Shippingport’s core beers have been brewed, but the announcement did not include production volumes, staffing totals, or details about how that arrangement will change after the taproom closes.

Owners used the post to thank patrons and neighborhood supporters directly, writing, “we’ve been supported by the most dedicated, die-hard and down-right amazing group of friends, neighbors and outright champions anyone could ask for. We are filled with gratitude for every single person who helped build our atmosphere, community and the literal space we’ve called home for almost (five) years.” The message invited customers to join celebrations through the final weekend as the taproom winds down service.

The social-media announcement did not include specific financial figures, rent or debt amounts, a staff count, or a statement about whether the closure represents a permanent end to the Shippingport brand or a pause ahead of other plans. For now, patrons can expect last-day service on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Sally Forth Taproom, with regular Thursday–Saturday hours noted in the announcement and the owners’ final request to “celebrate what we built together right up to the end.”
