Goat Patch Brewing Launches Canned West Coast IPA Statewide Across Colorado
Goat Patch's first canned West Coast IPA hits Colorado with Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe on a Pilsner base — a crisp pivot from the brewery's beloved hazy lineup.

Goat Patch Brewing Company, the Colorado Springs outfit known for its hazy IPAs and a collection of GABF and World Beer Cup hardware, stepped into new territory on March 10 with the release of its first-ever West Coast IPA in a can. The beer, brewed with Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe, clocks in at 6.7% ABV and 58 IBUs and is now available in six-pack cans and on tap across all three of the brewery's Colorado locations.
The hop trifecta is classic Pacific Northwest, but the grain bill is where Goat Patch made its intentions clear. "We brewed this with a super-dry grain bill, a Pilsner base to really showcase the hops," said Co-Owner and Director of Production Operations Darren Baze, whose beard, incidentally, inspired the brewery's name. The result is what Brewbound described as "refreshingly dry and intensely hoppy," with piney bitterness layered over vibrant citrus and tropical notes. For a brewery whose reputation sits squarely in the hazy camp, this is a deliberate swing toward clarity, both in style and philosophy.
The beer had already built a following before it ever saw a can. It was popular on tap, and the decision to package it came after success on the pilot system. "It tasted great brewed on our pilot system, and we're excited to release this beer on a larger scale," Baze said. That larger scale now means six-packs rolling out to bars, restaurants, and retailers across Colorado Springs, Monument, and surrounding areas, with the company's press materials claiming availability "across Colorado."

Drinkers can find the West Coast IPA on tap at Goat Patch's Lincoln Center headquarters in Colorado Springs, the Northgate location, which also houses Grazing Goat Pizza Kitchen, and the Monument taproom, which recently transitioned under the Goat Patch brand. The brewery carries four medals between the 2018 and 2020 Great American Beer Festival and the 2022 and 2024 World Beer Cup.
Availability runs through springtime, while supplies last.
