Good Neighbor Craft House reopens in former train station near Lock Haven
A former train station restaurant gave Good Neighbor Craft House a steadier home, more food room and a clearer growth path near Lock Haven.

The old Train Station restaurant in Castanea Township now gives Good Neighbor Craft House something its original home near Renovo could not: a more stable place to build a business. At 201 Logan Ave. in Lock Haven, the brewery has turned a recognizable corner property into a bigger, more practical operation with room for beer, food and a longer stay.
Vincent and Kate Kishbaugh found the site in February 2025, after the brewery had closed its North Bend location in November 2024. The earlier site opened in January 2022, but power outages and trees coming down along Route 120 made hours inconsistent and complicated day-to-day operations. Moving into the former train station restaurant changed that equation. Instead of fighting the same infrastructure problems, Good Neighbor Craft House could reset in a building that already had a built-in identity and a much clearer fit for a neighborhood gathering place.
The brewery reopened there in March 2026 and now lists 10 beers on tap, along with cider offerings. The tap list includes Castanea Cream Ale, Butch Light Lager, Rolland’s German Pilsner, Harvey’s Run Red Lager, The Cut Hazy IPA, Ol’ George O.S.B., Talon’s Flite, Station #3 Red Ale and The Golden Rule Saison. Public hours are Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The food side of the business is a big part of the move. Good Neighbor Craft House serves soups, pizza, sandwiches, entrées and desserts, a lineup that pushes it beyond a simple taproom model and into full restaurant territory. That matters for a small brewery making a calculated expansion bet: the more time guests spend on-site, the more the business can lean on food, atmosphere and repeat visits instead of beer alone.

The brewery has also tied its beers to local causes. One beer supports the Lock Haven Barbershop’s work providing haircuts for underprivileged youth, while another benefits the LHU Athletic Foundation. That kind of community tie-in fits the new setting well, especially in a building that already carries local history.
Penn State Small Business Development Center materials say Vinnie Kishbaugh has more than 30 years of culinary experience, including executive chef roles at Ironworks Pub in Danville and Clinton Country Club in Mill Hall. That background helps explain why the Lock Haven location feels less like a quick relocation and more like a practical reinvention. In the former Train Station, Good Neighbor Craft House has found the kind of home that can support the next stage of a small brewery’s growth.
