Lord Hobo and Modern Pastry Release Boston Cream Blonde Stout
Lord Hobo Brewing and Modern Pastry announced a limited release collaboration called Boston Cream Blonde Stout that recreates Modern Pastry’s signature dessert flavors in a silky, dessert forward beer. The release matters to craft beer fans and homebrewers because it blends pastry inspired vanilla, chocolate, and custard notes into a drinkable stout and will be available on draft and in cans with two public launch events planned.

Lord Hobo Brewing and Modern Pastry revealed their second joint beer on November 24, 2025, bringing the flavors of Modern Pastry’s Boston Cream Cake to the glass. The brewery describes Boston Cream Blonde Stout as layered with vanilla, chocolate, and subtle pastry cream character while remaining smooth and easy to drink. The beer landed just in time for holiday celebrations and will be distributed across Lord Hobo’s footprint with a featured release at Modern Pastry’s Underground Bar.
Collaborators emphasized the local cultural connection behind the beer. “Working with Lord Hobo again just feels natural,” said Gianni, Owner of Modern Pastry. “We both take enormous pride in the Boston community, and this beer captures the spirit of two local institutions coming together to create something memorable. Our Boston Cream Cake is one of our most cherished desserts, and seeing it reimagined in a beer is something truly special.” The partnership pairs Lord Hobo’s brewing experimentation with Modern Pastry’s decades long bakery tradition.
Launch activity includes two public events that will appeal to neighborhood patrons and visiting enthusiasts. On December 5th at Lord Hobo Brewing every purchase of Boston Cream Blonde Stout will include a free slice of Modern Pastry’s Boston Cream Cake. On December 6th Modern Pastry Underground will host a public release party from 1 to 4 PM with draft samples, limited cans and desserts from Modern Pastry’s team. “This collaboration celebrates everything we love about iconic New England partners,” added Aubree Karls, Director of Marketing at Lord Hobo Brewing.
Boston Cream Blonde Stout is available for a limited time on draft and in four pack 16 ounce cans at select accounts. Fans can look for additional behind the scenes content from both brands and locate nearby accounts using the Beer Finder on Lord Hobo’s website. For homebrewers and pastry beer fans the release is a timely example of bakery inspired brewing that highlights flavor layering and approachable body, and it offers pairing and tasting opportunities during the holiday season.
