Milwaukee County Expands Traveling Beer Garden Tour to 11 Parks in 2026
Milwaukee's Traveling Beer Garden kicks off May 13 at Wilson Park for its 13th season, running two simultaneous tours across 11 parks after generating $5.6M since inception.

Milwaukee County Parks and Sprecher Brewing Company raised a glass at Sprecher Brewing Wednesday morning to announce the 2026 Traveling Beer Garden schedule, bringing back two simultaneous tours for the first time in years and expanding the program to 11 parks across the county from May through September.
The Roll Out the Barrel Tour launches first, opening May 13 at Wilson Park (1601 W. Howard Ave.) before moving to McCarty Park, Grant Park, Sheridan Park, Froemming Park, and Greenfield Park. The Pass Me a Pint Tour follows June 3 at Cooper Park (8701 W. Chambers St.), then winds through Lake Park, Doctor's Park, Gordon Park, and Trimborn Farm. Froemming Park, at 8801 S. 51st St. in Franklin, is a new addition to the rotation this year.
Parks Director Guy Smith made the case for the expansion plainly: "This year, we're bringing back two separate tours, visiting 11 locations including Lake Park, adding Froemming Park, and expanding Thursday's 'Art + Hops' Night Market with local artists and live music. These events are a wonderful way for the community to come together, enjoy summer, and support our parks."
The financial stakes behind that mission are significant. County Executive David Crowley, who joined the announcement ceremony at Sprecher Brewing along with Supervisor Anne O'Connor and program partners, put a number on it: "Since its inception, the Traveling Beer Garden has generated $5.6 million, contributing significantly to more than $24 million made by our beer gardens since 2014." Crowley also called the program "an essential part of our strategy to not only sustain, but also to enhance the Milwaukee County Parks system." All proceeds go toward park improvements and maintenance.
The format remains the same crowd-pleaser it has been since the program's first season: two decommissioned fire trucks, outfitted to dispense beer, pulling into a park for roughly two weeks at a stretch. Sprecher beer and Sprecher root beer anchor the tap list, with additional options from Third Space, New Glarus, and 3 Sheeps rounding out the pour sheet. Cider, gluten-free, and non-alcoholic drinks are also available, along with hot dogs, bratwursts, and Bavarian pretzels.
Hours run Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., with weekend and holiday hours extended from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Two new partners are adding programming depth this season. LIT MKE, a local candle company, is expanding its Arts & Hops night market, which will pop up on opening night at each park stop. Owner Mike Bate grew the concept after running successful events at five parks last year. Alongside it, Andrea Tripp's Alt Dog Run will set up a fenced-in dog run at each garden, letting patrons bring their dogs along rather than leaving them home.
The announcement at Sprecher Brewing Wednesday included what has apparently become an annual tradition: Crowley, O'Connor, Bate, Tripp, and a participant identified only as Chadha lifted cups in a ceremonial toast to the season. "Just a sip," said the county executive, who still had a full day ahead of him.
The complete Pass Me a Pint schedule runs June 3 through a September 12-13 closing weekend at Trimborn Farm (8881 W. Grange Ave., Greendale). The Roll Out the Barrel Tour wraps with three separate date blocks at Greenfield Park (2028 S. 124th St., West Allis), ending September 19-20, giving the 13th season one of its longer runs yet.
