Rocky River Brewing returns after yearlong fire closure, with full renovation

Rocky River Brewing Co. is coming back in early June with more than repairs. After a fire forced the Rocky River brewpub to close for about a year, owner Gary Cintron used the shutdown to renovate nearly every inch of the place, turning a reluctant pause into a full reset for the business.

The fire broke out on June 24, 2025, at the Center Ridge Road location and was later determined to be construction-related, tied to hot work on the roof while the restaurant was closed. Officials estimated the damage at $3 million, split between the building and the business’s contents, and two firefighters were injured in the response before being released after overnight observation. What had looked like a short repair job stretched into a much bigger rebuild, and the reopening timeline slid from an initial six-month estimate to eight months, then from early March 2026 to early June.

That longer closure also carried a human cost. By August 2025, employees were no longer receiving paychecks, and a GoFundMe was created to help staff through the shutdown. In November, Rocky River Brewing said closing for good “was never on the table,” a statement that now reads like a promise finally reaching the finish line.

The renovation list makes clear why the project took so long. Floors, ceilings, furniture, restrooms, TVs, a sound system, beer lines and the beer tower were all replaced or upgraded, giving the brewpub a fresh operational base instead of a patch job. For drinkers, that means the reopening will not just restore a familiar neighborhood spot on the West Side of Cleveland; it will bring back a room that has been materially updated from the ground up, with a cleaner flow behind the bar and a more polished taproom experience out front.

Rocky River Brewing is also staffing up for the return. Its website says it is hiring across multiple roles ahead of reopening, and the business still describes itself as a “Westside Tradition since 1998.” After a year away from the market, the comeback is set to land as a real relaunch, not just a reopening sign on the door, with Rocky River Brewing returning to Center Ridge Road looking like a brewery that learned how to rebuild instead of merely recover.
