Westwood Farms, Living Häus and Pizza Port Release India Red Ale Named for Family
Three West Coast partners named a 6.2% India Red Ale after the Coleman family matriarch, built around Oregon-grown Strata and Mosaic hops.

Oregon hop grower Westwood Farms joined Portland's Living Häus Beer Co. and Solana Beach's Pizza Port Brewing Co. to release "Kathy," a 6.2% ABV India Red Ale honoring the Coleman family matriarch, in mid-March 2026. The beer landed on tap at Living Häus first, with 16 oz four-packs and wider draft distribution rolling out across Portland Metro, Seattle, Southern Oregon, and San Diego in the weeks that followed.
The recipe traces back to an existing Pizza Port beer, evolved through what has become a multi-year creative relationship between the two breweries. "We have had a great time working with Living Häus over the last couple of years on collaboration beers," said Mike Havens, head brewer at Pizza Port in Solana Beach. "Evolving this recipe together made the process really fun, and being able to do that with great hops and great partners made it even better."
The hop bill threads together two Oregon-connected sources: Strata and Centennial from Indie Hops, and Mosaic from Yakima Chief Hops, with both the Strata and Mosaic grown at Westwood Farms. That grower-to-glass connection shapes the flavor profile. In the glass, "Kathy" opens on orange peel and peach skins, moves into a jammy marmalade middle, and finishes on toffee and baker's chocolate.
Beyond the tribute and the tasting notes, the timing carries competitive intent: the release puts "Kathy" in position for entry into the Oregon Beer Awards, scheduled for April 2, 2026.

When the broader rollout reaches full distribution, the beer will be available at bars, bottle shops, and both the Living Häus Portland tasting room and the Pizza Port tasting room in Solana Beach. Living Häus, which regularly collaborates with partners who share its focus on quality and craft, has built a reputation in the Pacific Northwest for beers rooted in traditional styles with a thoughtful experimental edge; "Kathy" fits that profile while extending the brewery's reach down the California coast through the Pizza Port partnership.
The full story behind the Coleman family tribute and the precise logistics connecting Westwood Farms' Mosaic crop to the Yakima Chief Hops supply chain are details worth watching as the collaboration gains shelf space.
