Summit County Cuts Dog Adoption Fees to $28 All March Long
Summit County's "You Lucky Dog!" promotion cuts dog adoption fees from $94 to $28 all month at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron.

Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Animal Control are running a deal right now that's genuinely hard to argue with: $28 gets you a fully vetted, microchipped dog with a county license thrown in, through March 31.
The promotion, called "You Lucky Dog!," runs through the end of the month at Summit County Animal Control's facility at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron. The regular adoption fee is $94, so the markdown is substantial. Every dog that goes home this month has already been through bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter surgery, and vaccinations. They're microchipped and described by the county as ready to be taken home the same day.
The county press release also notes that adopters receive a Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost, though the release lists it as a 2025 license, which is worth confirming directly with the shelter before you show up expecting a 2026 tag.
This isn't the first time Summit County Animal Control has tried this approach. Earlier this year, a separate promotion called "Warm Up with a Pup!" ran from January 7 through February 2 and offered the same $28 reduced fee. That one was covered by Cleveland19. The March campaign follows the same structure but under a new name and with Shapiro's office formally attached to the announcement.

If you want to browse dogs before making the drive, Summit County Animal Control has photos on their Facebook page and website. To schedule an appointment, call 330-643-2845. Walk-ins are welcome during facility hours: Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from noon to 3:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
For a high-drive dog owner, the math here is genuinely straightforward. A microchipped, neutered, vaccinated dog with fresh bloodwork on file, adopted before March 31, costs less than a decent bag of premium kibble.
