Costco starts selling a plug-in cold plunge tub for $899.99
Costco’s $899.99 plug-in plunge brings no-ice cold therapy into the warehouse aisle. The real test is whether it is a smart starter buy or a pricey impulse grab.

Costco has turned cold plunge into a warehouse-club purchase, and the price does the talking. The LifeTrend Classic Cold Plunge Tub with Chiller sells for $899.99, putting a plug-in, no-ice setup within reach of shoppers who want cold exposure without a custom wellness build.
The appeal is convenience. The tub comes with an integrated chiller, is designed for single-person use, and uses an acrylic shell with a cover for insulation and cleanliness between sessions. Its temperature range runs from 77°F down to 37°F, so it can serve as a cool dip on one end and a true cold plunge on the other. For buyers trying to compare cost against performance, that range matters more than the marketing. It means the unit can be used for a lighter recovery reset or for harder cold therapy work, depending on tolerance and training goals.
That said, cold plunge is not a simple miracle product. The American College of Sports Medicine says cold-water immersion is the most studied cryotherapy application and one of the most commonly used post-recovery modalities for athletes. But the evidence does not point to a single perfect protocol. A British Journal of Sports Medicine meta-analysis found that a single 10-minute cold-water immersion bout after strenuous plyometric exercise had no beneficial effect on recovery from exercise-induced muscle damage, while Cochrane describes cold-water immersion in water below 15°C as one of the most popular strategies for reducing delayed-onset muscle soreness after exercise.
Safety remains part of the equation, especially for first-time buyers drawn in by the price tag. The American Heart Association warns that cold-water immersion can trigger a cold-shock response, with rapid increases in breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure. Harvard Health says the initial shock of cold water activates the sympathetic nervous system rather than immediately delivering heart-related benefits. That makes a simple plug-in purchase feel less like a novelty and more like a tool that still demands respect.
Costco’s other hydrotherapy listings point in the same direction. The retailer also sells the Coldture Cold Plunge Classic Tub and Chiller System, which cools to 37°F and heats to 105°F, and the LifeTrend Solitude Integrated Cold Plunge & Hot Soak Tub, which converts from 37°F to 104°F. With industry research putting the global cold plunge market in the hundreds of millions and projecting growth through 2030 and beyond, the warehouse club is not just testing a trend. It is helping move cold therapy from elite recovery spaces into ordinary shopping carts.
