Roughly 50 residents and staff from DF Multifamily braved freezing community pool waters across Virginia and Ohio this February, with three regional teams collectively raising nearly $6,000 for the Special Olympics through the annual Polar Plunge fundraising series.

The effort was led by the Midwest Polar Plunge team, which topped the leaderboard at $2,510, followed by the Stutt Jumpers at $2,060 and the Arctic Avengers at $1,385. The three teams' totals combined to $5,955, which DF Multifamily, a division of Newport News, Virginia-based Drucker + Falk, described as nearly $6,000 raised for Special Olympics branches in their respective regions.

"The Polar Plunge is a uniquely inclusive initiative that our residents and staff look forward to every year," said Wendy Drucker, Managing Director at Drucker + Falk. "Whether they are donating to the cause or poolside cheering on our teams, it is an annual event that truly brings people together for a great purpose."

Participation was not limited to jumpers. Residents who stayed dry contributed by donating and cheering from poolside, with the fundraising push running through the month of February before DF Multifamily announced results earlier this month.

The 2026 campaign marks the latest chapter in what has become a recurring philanthropic tradition for the company. In early 2024, two regional property managers and 19 communities participated in the Polar Plunge across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, raising nearly $8,000. Before that, eight DF Multifamily apartment communities spread across Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia took part in February 2023. The Special Olympics hosts Polar Plunge events through dedicated branches across the country, with participating teams collectively raising hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to support athletes across the organization's programs.

The scale of each year's effort has shifted, but the structure remains consistent: employees jump, residents engage, and the fundraising runs the week of the plunge. For the 2026 series, the record participation noted across Virginia and Ohio suggests the program continues to deepen its foothold within DF Multifamily's portfolio communities.
