Edit x Seven Setouchi Shodoshima Resort Opens With Sea-Facing Cold Plunge Pools
Shodoshima's first authentic thermal spa arrives at edit x seven Setouchi Shodoshima, with a 15°C cold plunge pool and a sea-level infinity pool that dissolves into the Inland Sea.

Shodoshima is the second-largest island in the Seto Inland Sea, approximately one hour by ferry from Takamatsu Port, and until this year it had never seen anything quite like what just opened at Yasuda. fav hospitality group Co., Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary of Kasumigaseki Capital Co., Ltd., soft-opened edit x seven Setouchi Shodoshima in Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture on January 26, 2026, with the grand opening following on March 5. The centerpiece is a cold plunge pool set at a precise 15°C with a depth of 1.2 meters, surrounded by an infinity pool, a Finnish sauna for up to 20 guests, and indoor jacuzzis — every single one of them looking directly out over the Seto Inland Sea.
The property introduces Shodoshima's first authentic thermal spa, drawing on the Salt Group's extensive expertise in bathing and spa experiences. The facility features a sauna accommodating up to 20 guests equipped with an auto löyly system, a 1.2-meter-deep cold bath, an indoor bath, and an infinity pool that seamlessly blends with the sea. The sequence of hot-cold cycling here is unusually complete: descend into the Finnish sauna until the automatic löyly fires, step out to the cold plunge, float in the infinity pool, and repeat with uninterrupted water views throughout.
The edén spa and restaurant concept, already proven at the Salt Group's original location in Katsuura, makes its island debut here as edén SETOUCHI Thermal Spa & Restaurant. The Salt Group's Katsuura original established the edén template: a complex of restaurants and thermal spring spas unaffected by weather, enjoyable year-round, featuring saunas alongside natural hot spring spas and restaurants serving primarily Mediterranean cuisine. That blueprint translates to Shodoshima in full, including year-round access to the spa regardless of season.
The restaurant runs from breakfast through dinner, with menus celebrating the rich ingredients unique to Shodoshima — seasonal seafood, island-grown vegetables, olive oil, and soy sauce, all crafted into modern and refined dishes that express the essence of the island. The Salt Group frames this as the integration of "tasting the island" and "refreshing on the island," a philosophy that positions a cold plunge and a plate of local olive-oil-dressed fish as two expressions of the same experience.
The property comprises 45 guest rooms, including suites of over 120 square meters, offering guests refined interiors and a serene atmosphere. The flagship Garden Suite with Plunge Pool runs 123 square meters of interior space plus a 140-square-meter terrace and fits up to eight guests. The resort's total 45 rooms continue the FAV series' feature of multi-person accommodation, with each room accommodating between four and eight people. Private sauna suites, a signature of the edit x seven series, are also available here — upgraded with a private sauna and garden pool, allowing guests to enjoy water activities and sauna within their own room.

The property was originally planned under the FAV LUX series name before being rebranded to edit x seven Setouchi Shodoshima ahead of opening. It marks the first FAV series property to pair an infinity pool with a Finnish bath under the same roof. The two buildings — WEST and EAST, both reinforced concrete at eight floors each — total 4,553.24 square meters of floor area.
To mark a commemorative year, a large-scale program ran from March 5 through March 29, 2026, including approximately 2,000 fireworks launches, a 3D drone show using around 500 drones, a sky lantern show featuring about 300 LED lanterns, and a dragon show using radio-controlled drones making its debut in Japan. These performances were viewable from hotel guest rooms, the thermal spa, or the restaurants.
A Grand Opening Commemorative Plan covers stays from January 26 through the end of May 2026, offering a 30% discount on two Salt Group-supervised packages: a Breakfast-Included Plan and a Two-Meal Plan covering breakfast and dinner. Room rates start from ¥35,000. The resort sits on Shodoshima Island, which is most widely known for its participation in the triennial Setouchi Art Festival, giving guests a cultural anchor to match the thermal one — cold water in the morning, art in the afternoon, and the Inland Sea glowing at dinner.
