EDHREC launches January Archidekt contest focused on snow
EDHREC opened a snow-theme Archidekt deckbuilding contest; submissions are accepted through 9:00 PM EST on Jan 14 with Cardsphere store credit prizes for finalists.

EDHREC kicked off its January Archidekt Deckbuilding Contest with a clear wintery twist: build a Commander-legal deck that uses the snow mechanic as a major strategic pillar. The contest, announced on January 8, invites community builders to demonstrate creative snow synergies and submit Archidekt deck lists for a chance at Cardsphere store credit and community recognition.
Submissions are handled through Archidekt’s submit button on the contest newspost. Each user may enter one deck. The rules make gameplay boundaries plain: no silver-bordered or Acorn cards, and digital-only cards are barred. Decks must be Commander-legal, and entrants should verify their lists on Archidekt before submitting to avoid disqualification. Entries are being accepted now through 9:00 PM EST on Wednesday, January 14, 2026; finalists and a community voting phase will follow after the submission window closes.
The prize pool is straightforward and meaningful for players looking to upgrade collections. Finalists will receive Cardsphere store credit: $250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third. Beyond the money, finalists earn exposure on EDHREC’s platforms and the chance to set trends for snow-focused strategies in the format.
EDHREC provided examples and inspiration to get builders started. The contest highlights cards such as Scrying Sheets and points to commanders that naturally interact with snow lands and snow permanents. That direction nudges builders toward archetypes that lean on snow-count engine pieces, alternate land bases with snow basics, and cards that gain incremental value from snow mana or snow permanents turning on triggered abilities.

This contest is a practical opportunity to test uncommon synergies and refine a snow mana base in a competitive, creative setting. Submitters should balance novelty with reliability: make sure your snow count is high enough to activate your key pieces, keep the mana base functional for multiplayer Commander, and build a game plan that doesn’t collapse if a couple of snow lands are stolen or removed. Use Archidekt’s tagging and notes fields to call out snow dependencies so judges and voters can see your intent at a glance.
Our two cents? Pick a tight, repeatable engine that rewards maintaining snow permanents, double-check the banned-excluded lists, and submit early enough to fix any Archidekt quirks. This is a chance to turn frost into fame and store credit, so polish that deck and get it in before 9:00 PM EST on Jan 14.
