Corsair VANGUARD AIR 99 Brings Wireless, Low-Profile Design with Stream Deck Integration

Corsair packed its OPX optical switches, FlashTap SOCD handling, and 8,000Hz hyper-polling into a 99% form factor chassis measuring just 18mm thick, announcing the VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS out of Milpitas, California on March 18, 2026. The board targets gamers and content creators who have been waiting for a low-profile layout that doesn't trade competitive specs for a slim profile.

The CORSAIR OPX optical low-profile switches sit at a 1.5mm actuation distance and use infrared light to detect keypresses, eliminating mechanical debounce delays for near-instant responsiveness. That speed extends to the polling rate: 8,000Hz hyper-polling is available in both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, not just tethered use. FlashTap SOCD handling rounds out the input performance stack, addressing the simultaneous opposing cardinal direction inputs that matter in competitive play.

Connectivity runs three ways via 2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS v2, Bluetooth, or the included USB-A cable, covering PC, Mac, consoles, and other supported platforms. The build includes an aluminium frame, premium gasket mounting, and five layers of sound dampening underneath an integrated LCD screen and multi-functional dial, all within that 18mm footprint.

The Stream Deck angle is where this keyboard separates itself from other low-profile releases. Programmable SD-keys and Virtual Stream Deck capabilities fold Elgato's workflow automation directly into the board, letting streamers and creators trigger macros, scene switches, and app controls from the keyboard itself without a separate Stream Deck unit on the desk.

Corsair did not disclose pricing or regional availability in the March 18 press release. Battery life figures and exact ship dates remain unconfirmed, and the number and placement of SD-keys on the board were not detailed in the announcement materials.
