Keychron launched two new low-profile wireless keyboards, the K3 HE and K3 Ultra, extending the company’s HE and Ultra design language into a compact, portable K3 form factor. The pair targets both workflow and gaming use, bringing adjustable Hall effect capabilities on one model and high-refresh mechanical performance on the other.

TechPowerUp and Mechkeys reported that both models arrived on February 12, following Keychron’s own teaser that said, “Introducing two new K3 low-profile custom keyboards. Designed to stay portable. Built to perform. Launching Soon. Join the Keychron VIP list to receive an” with the VIP line truncated in the teaser. Early access was offered on Keychron’s site with a $3 reservation fee, and final retail pricing has not yet been disclosed.

The Keychron K3 HE leans into Hall effect input. It uses Lime low-profile Hall effect magnetic switches and is described as allowing users to adjust actuation points, trigger and reset behavior, and to configure multi-action or analog inputs. The K3 HE is presented as similar in concept to Keychron’s K2 HE, and is expected to support third-party low-profile Hall effect switches such as Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro and TTC KOM, avoiding what TechPowerUp called “a fully proprietary ecosystem.” That mix of analog-capable Hall sensing and third-party compatibility could make the K3 HE attractive to builders who want low-profile analog input or tunable actuation without being locked into an exclusive switch line.

The Keychron K3 Ultra sticks with traditional mechanical hardware, shipped with pre-lubed low-profile Milk POM switches. Notebookcheck noted the K3 Ultra “features 8K polling,” and contrasted the models by stating, “the K3 Ultra is mechanical, while the K3 HE uses Hall effect sensors.” High polling and a low-profile layout will appeal to gamers chasing responsiveness in a slim package, while the K3 Ultra’s pre-lubed switches aim to reduce break-in work for buyers who prefer out-of-box smoothness.

Both models emphasize portability and a slim profile, and are expected to use an ABS bottom case with a metal and wood frame similar to Keychron’s earlier HE Special Edition keyboards, complete with wood accent details. The keyboards will ship in black and white versions. Keychron’s teaser post has modest engagement online, with an “Official teaser post has 33 likes and thousands of views,” reflecting early community curiosity.

For buyers with GAS for low-profile boards, the K3 HE and K3 Ultra represent distinct choices: analog-capable Hall sensing and switch compatibility on the HE, and high-polling mechanical performance on the Ultra. Final pricing, full battery and connectivity specs, and complete marketing copy for the VIP offer remain outstanding.
