Lofree Hyzen Series Combines Hybrid Nexus Switches With High-Speed Wireless Gaming Features
Lofree's Hyzen is a 65% aluminum keyboard with the Nexus switch, co-developed with Kailh, combining mechanical tactility with TMR magnetic actuation down to 0.01mm and 8 kHz wireless polling.

The mechanical keyboard world has spent years treating "gaming performance" and "premium typing feel" as mutually exclusive categories. Lofree's new Hyzen series is a direct argument against that assumption.
The Hyzen combines a compact 65% layout with a new hybrid switch design that merges mechanical and magnetic functionality. At its core is the Nexus switch, developed in collaboration with Kailh, which integrates a magnet inside the stem alongside traditional metal contacts, enabling it to operate as both a mechanical and TMR-based magnetic switch. The result, according to Lofree, is the lightning-fast 0.01mm adjustable actuation and ultra-low latency of a magnetic switch, while preserving the satisfying tactile feedback of a classic mechanical keyboard.
What makes the Nexus architecture particularly interesting is the underlying sensor technology. The Hyzen moves past standard Hall Effect sensors to embrace Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR), a next-generation magnetic technology that offers significantly higher sensitivity, allowing the keyboard to detect sub-millimeter movements with a level of accuracy that Hall Effect sensors simply cannot match. For users who want to toggle between workflows, the Nexus switch allows switching between Mechanical Mode and Magnetic Mode by pressing Enter + Fn, with the idea of switching between work-oriented key feel and game-oriented high-speed response being a major feature of the series. The Nexus switches are also hot-swappable, and the TMR PCB supports both magnetic and standard mechanical switches.
On the wireless side, the Hyzen is no compromised office board wearing a gaming costume. The keyboard is powered by a Nordic nRF54L series microcontroller from Nordic Semiconductor and supports up to an 8 kHz polling rate when used in compatible modes. Hyzen supports USB-C wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless tri-mode connectivity and is backed by a 10,000 mAh battery rated for up to 80 hours of operation. The software side is equally stacked: the dedicated Lofree Hub software supports Rapid Trigger, DKS, SOCD, and other settings, covering all the necessary elements for a competitive magnetic gaming keyboard.
The chassis reflects the same philosophy as the switch: performance dressed in restraint. The Hyzen is a precision-engineered keyboard carved from a single block of premium aluminum, defined by sharp, clean edges and a clutter-free aesthetic. Its design conceals a few nifty features behind an otherwise unassuming exterior. A full-width LED lightbar runs along the base, and the board is available in Silver and Space Gray. A physical toggle also allows the number row to function as a function row, with LED indicators positioned above the keys to display the active mode, directly addressing one of the biggest friction points for anyone moving from a full-size layout to a 65%.
This is the first time Lofree has released a magnetic keyboard, a significant step for a brand better known for the low-profile Edge and Flow series. The Hyzen will launch on Kickstarter on April 23, with early bird reservations already available on the Lofree site ahead of the official launch. VIP reservation holders can lock in $169 for the single-mode wired version or $189 for the tri-mode wireless, while mailing list subscribers without a reservation deposit qualify for early bird pricing of $179 and $199 respectively. A projected retail price of $299 is expected after the crowdfunding phase closes.
