Caged Element is the solo project of Concealed Sequence drum programmer Paul Bolstridge, and his latest release, "Generic Constructivism," lands squarely in the territory he has made his own: dark, dank minimal techno and ambient styles fused with Detroit and the early days of IDM, when the term mostly referred to slightly off-kilter psychedelic, chillout room material.

Based in Derby, UK, Bolstridge dropped "Generic Constructivism" on Bandcamp during the week of March 22, 2026. The release leans into tense textures and a stripped aesthetic, qualities that cut directly to the core of what makes dark minimal techno compelling: the feeling that every element present is load-bearing, with nothing included by accident.
