Arknights: Endfield adds free story update, new zone and characters

Arknights: Endfield is getting its first big post-launch push with Sketches of Lost Heirlooms, a free version 1.3 update that arrives on June 5 and tries to do two jobs at once: add fresh story content and make the day-to-day game better. That matters here because Endfield is not just a gacha RPG, it is a hybrid built around action-RPG combat and factory-building simulation, so every major update has to keep both halves moving in step.

The new chapter widens the Talos-II frontier with Sword Vault Dale, a region framed as long-lost ruins of broken walls and floating cliffs. That setting points Endfield toward a more exploratory, mystery-heavy arc, with players chasing the Lost Heirlooms alongside the Wuling Watch. For anyone already invested in the game’s industrial systems, a new zone is more than scenery: it usually means new resource routes, new combat encounters and new ways to push progression through the management layers that sit under the battles.

GRYPHLINE is also folding in quality-of-life work, and that is the part likely to matter most to cautious players who are still deciding whether Endfield can hold up over time. Light Zhong, the game producer, has framed the update around continuous polishing and non-stop optimization, a sign the studio wants improvements to show up in the experience itself rather than in promises on a roadmap. In a game this dependent on the balance between combat flow and base automation, that kind of tuning can be as important as any headline feature.

The update also brings Contingency Contract into Arknights: Endfield for the first time, giving the game a fan-favorite hardcore challenge mode from the wider Arknights universe. Two new playable characters join the roster as well. Mi Fu lands on June 5 as a high-mobility Physical Guard tied to the A Fistful of Reflections event, while Camille arrives later in the update as a Heat Vanguard connected to Danse Macabre.

Endfield launched globally on January 22, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PC, iOS and Android, after topping 35 million pre-registrations and handing out launch rewards equal to 135 free pulls.
