Call of Duty: Mobile Season 4 brings Rebirth Island to Battle Royale, DMZ Recon
Rebirth Island lands in COD Mobile on April 22, and DMZ: Recon’s first extraction can spawn Nikto. Godzilla x Kong also brings Titan-themed events and Draws.

Rebirth Island is the real season-reset hook in Call of Duty: Mobile Season 4, Eternal Prison, and it lands with more than nostalgia. Activision is bringing the prison-complex map into both Battle Royale and DMZ: Recon on April 22 at 5PM PT, and the update is built to change pacing, sightlines, and first-fight pressure the moment players load in.
The biggest shift is in DMZ: Recon. Rebirth Island will open with a cutscene, an explorable Stronghold area, and a high-danger prison zone, but the extraction flow is the part that will matter in everyday matches. Players must activate dual computer terminals to start the escape, and the first dual-switch extraction can trigger Nikto as a boss encounter. Nikto shows up on the rooftop with a Riot Shield and aerial support, turning what should have been a clean exfil into a fight that punishes sloppy positioning and burned ammo. After that first encounter, extraction falls back to the standard helicopter escape, but the opening run is clearly designed to be the match-defining danger point.
The prison itself adds another layer of pressure. Gates have to be activated manually, which starts a 30-second countdown, triggers a global alarm and an island-wide broadcast, and then opens all prison gates for 10 seconds before cooldown kicks in. That alone changes how players will rotate and hold cover. Anyone used to standard Battle Royale tempo is going to have to re-learn how fast a bad peek turns into a full collapse.
Battle Royale on Rebirth Island is not just a throwback map drop, either. Activision is folding in UAV Towers, Contracts, and Buy Stations, which makes the island feel like a fully updated seasonal ruleset rather than a simple nostalgia play. The map also gets enhanced visuals, improved lighting, environmental objects, and updated points of interest, and those changes carry over to both Battle Royale and DMZ: Recon.
The reward track matters too. Season 4 adds the DP27 LMG and the Toxic Overload Battle Royale class, the kind of additions that can shift loadout choices fast for players who actually chase meta edges. The Monsterverse crossover is the flashy layer on top, with operator skins inspired by Godzilla and Kong, plus Titan-themed events and Draws. That part will sell the season, but the practical changes are the map, the extraction pressure, and the new class and weapon. Rebirth Island is back, and this time it arrives as a full combat reset, not just a headline skin package.
