Deadman: Annihilation draws 153,000 players to streamed RuneScape PvP finale
More than 153,000 players joined Deadman: Annihilation, which launched Jan 30 and closed with a live-streamed PvP finale that kicked off at 18:00 UTC over the weekend of Feb 20–21.

Deadman: Annihilation drew over 153,000 players and ended in a live-streamed PvP finale that kicked off at 18:00 UTC, bringing three weeks of high-risk combat, boosted XP, and big stakes to Old School RuneScape. The limited-time season launched on 30 January 2026 and consolidated weeks of intense open-PvP into a multi-phase streamed climax that promised real-world prizes across four combat brackets.
The variant opened 30 January 2026 and ran approximately three weeks, with mechanics reworked to be more accessible while keeping the mode punishing. Dying still strips your inventory and equipped gear, experience and drop rates were boosted throughout the season, and players accumulated Deadman Points via skilling, quests, and combat achievements as they climbed bracket ladders.
The finale used a staged format. Phase one teleported the field into Daimon’s Crater and split competitors into two teams that spawned to the south-west and south-east of the crater. Both teams were forced to wear team capes and could not unequip them - attempting to remove one returns the message: “You can't remove the team cape at this stage of Deadman Finale.” A damaging fog pushed teams toward the northern area of the crater as pressure mounted.
When roughly 100 survivors remained, the event transitioned to Phase two and moved into the Fortis Colosseum, where gladiator NPCs constricted the arena similar to the Sol Heredit fight before the match dissolved into a free-for-all endgame. The finale was streamed on Twitch at 18:00 UTC with commentary promised from community favourites and “two names synonymous with high-level PvP and deep game knowledge,” and prizes were available across four combat brackets for entrants who had chosen the correct world for their combat level.
Annihilation introduced several notable rule changes versus previous Deadman seasons: bank keys that allowed looters to claim the top 10 most valuable items from a smited victim were removed, the sigil power-up system received tweaks, and additional checks were implemented to close loopholes on item transfers. These changes aimed to tighten fairness while preserving the high stakes that make Deadman seasons “stress tests of skill, knowledge, and nerve.”
At season end, characters were moved to world 345 for players who want to continue on permanent Deadman. Players keep all skills progression but none of their tradeable items carry over, and untradeable items that can be converted into tradeables - such as Barrows gloves for coins or God books for pages - also do not transfer. Each transferred character receives 12 hours of protection on world 345 to get geared up without interruption.
Pocket Gamer and other outlets covered the finale. Sources vary on the exact calendar end date - some material lists 20 February 2026 while other accounts place the streamed climax across the weekend of 20–21 February - but the broadcast at 18:00 UTC and the transfer rules to world 345 are consistent across the available reports. Players who plan to continue in permanent Deadman should log into world 345 and use the 12 hours of protection to gear up and test the revised ruleset.
