Guild Wars Reforged lands on mobile with cross-progression this summer

ArenaNet is bringing Guild Wars Reforged to mobile this summer with cross-progression, free Prophecies access, and an ad-free path for existing owners. Newcomers start with ads, but veterans can carry one account across PC, Steam Deck, and phones.

ArenaNet is giving Guild Wars players something that actually matters on a phone: the ability to keep the same account moving across PC, Steam Deck, and mobile on shared servers. For anyone who already lives in Tyria, that means the mobile release is not just a side app. It is a real on-the-go client for a game that has been around since December 3, 2005 and has reportedly logged more than 1 billion hours across more than nine million players.

The summer launch of Guild Wars Reforged on iOS and Android will be free-to-play and ad-supported for newcomers, but existing owners get a cleaner deal. If you log in on mobile with an ArenaNet account, you get the full ad-free version at no extra cost, with progress synchronized across platforms. That makes the mobile version feel less like a stripped companion and more like a way to keep your account warm while you are away from your desk.

ArenaNet is also opening the door carefully. Android preregistration is already live, and Apple preregistration is expected soon. Mobile testing is set to begin shortly in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Philippines before the global rollout planned for this summer. New players will start with the original Guild Wars: Prophecies campaign for free, while the rest of the classic content is sold separately: each campaign costs $6.99, Eye of the North is priced at $9.99, and the Bonus Mission Pack costs $5.99.

There is one catch for the modern account system crowd. New mobile users will sign in with Mobile IDs, and they can convert those to ArenaNet accounts later, but Mobile IDs cannot yet be linked to Steam accounts. That matters because the cleanest version of this mobile rollout is clearly aimed at existing Guild Wars Reforged owners who already have their accounts set up and want one progression path across every screen they play on.

The timing also fits ArenaNet’s broader refresh of the game. Guild Wars Reforged first arrived in November 2025 as a modernized edition of the original MMORPG, adding HD visuals, controller support, Steam Deck verification, and accessibility improvements. Stephen Clarke-Wilson said that the UI work and Steam Deck support helped make the mobile rebuild possible, which is exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes setup that turns a surprise mobile jump from a novelty into something MMO veterans can actually use.
