Subway Surfers, Angry Birds 2 launch major crossover event on May 11
Red and Chuck join Subway Surfers on May 11, but Angry Birds 2’s level 13 event and Tower of Fortune tie-in may be the real prize.

Starting May 11, Subway Surfers players can unlock Red and Chuck from Angry Birds, run through a futuristic Copenhagen built for the game’s 14th anniversary, and chase a pile of crossover rewards that goes well beyond a simple skin drop. The event brings new outfits, hoverboards, collectibles, event art, themed backgrounds, special event coins, and the Bombastic Board, with the whole Subway Surfers side framed like an egg hunt.
That already sounds bigger than the average mobile crossover, and it helps that SYBO is leaning into what Subway Surfers does best: bright city-hopping spectacle with Jake, Tricky, and the rest of the crew. The twist here is that the usual cast gets superhero-style makeovers while Red and Chuck slide in as unlockable characters, giving longtime fans an obvious reason to log back in even if they only care about the cosmetics. Copenhagen makes the right stage too, since SYBO is anchoring the party in its home city instead of tossing the theme into a generic event map.
Angry Birds 2, though, is where this crossover starts looking like real value instead of a straight trade of costumes. Subway Surfers Spell is available to players who have reached level 13, and it pushes the runner’s energy into Saga levels with a more aggressive, lane-based feel as birds grind through pig fortresses. Swag Adventure goes a step further as a Tower of Fortune event, handing out exclusive Subway Surfers hats that raise Flock Power and help break down pig defenses more efficiently.

That matters because Angry Birds 2 is not just borrowing Subway Surfers branding, it is folding it into actual progression. The game already lives on seasonal hats, guest birds, and limited-time events, so this crossover fits cleanly into its live-service rhythm. Subway Surfers has the flashier visual package, but Angry Birds 2 gets the sharper gameplay hook, especially for anyone already sitting at level 13 or beyond and ready to turn the crossover into a power boost instead of a photo op.
If the question is which side gives players the better deal, Angry Birds 2 probably wins. Subway Surfers gets the bigger spectacle, but Angry Birds 2 gives players two distinct event modes that change how they play, not just how they look. That is the difference between a crossover you admire and one you actually grind.
