Subway Surfers heads to Sydney with new characters and boards

Subway Surfers is heading to Sydney with two new Australian-themed surfers, Dan Under and Sandy, plus three new boards and fresh costumes. The Sydney World Tour stop folds in sunny beaches and coastal city streets, so the run feels built around a specific holiday-flavored destination instead of a generic reskin.

Dan Under arrives as an animal caretaker in a cork hat, while Sandy joins as a beach-side lifeguard. The update also adds the Off-Road Ranger, Bay Drifter and Roo Rush boards, along with Sandy’s Sink or Swim outfit and Lily’s Kangarumi outfit.

The original Subway Surfers has kept expanding long after launch. The game passed 4 billion lifetime downloads by 2023, and Sybo marked its 13th anniversary in May 2025 with the 200th World Tour destination, a Copenhagen stop that showed how central the traveling-city format has become to the series. Sydney keeps that cadence alive, using the World Tour structure to turn one new city into a package of map, character and board content.

It also lands while Sybo is pushing Subway Surfers City as a separate sequel. Pre-registration opened in January 2026, and the global release was set for February 26, 2026, with Sybo chief executive Mathias Gredal Nørvig calling it the next chapter in the franchise’s nearly 15-year run. Even with that new entry in motion, the original game is still getting the kind of themed content that keeps it in the conversation.
