Paizo Shares Mid-Playtest Update for Risks and Rewards Playtest

The clock is ticking for Pathfinder Second Edition's Risks & Rewards Playtest. Paizo Senior Designer Jason Keeley and the design/playtest team have published a mid-playtest check-in confirming the public test of two new classes, the daredevil and the slayer, has reached its halfway point, and the window to shape those classes is narrowing fast.

"Well, well, by the old calendar on the wall, it looks like we are about halfway through the Risks & Rewards Playtest!" the post opens. The team reports the response has been encouraging so far: "We've seen some great feedback so far, though to ensure these classes become the best that they can be, we need as many of your thoughts as we can get." The explicit ask follows directly: "Luckily, you have until April 10th to test out the daredevil and the slayer and then take the surveys."

That April 10th deadline leaves roughly four weeks for anyone who hasn't yet put either class through its paces at the table. Both the daredevil and the slayer are purpose-built for Pathfinder Second Edition, and playtest surveys are how Paizo's designers calibrate everything from action economy to class identity before a class reaches final publication. Getting more voices into those surveys, particularly from groups running diverse encounter types and adventure lengths, directly influences the finished product.

The mid-playtest update lands alongside a busy stretch of Paizo news. The Paizo Printables storefront on MyMiniFactory is now live, giving players access to official printable miniature content. The March 2026 Organized Play Monthly Update confirms new adventures releasing on April 1, 2026, with Paizo adding a "(really!)" to head off any calendar skepticism. The Find Your Path roundup for March pitches this month's releases with wizard students in comedic peril and a call to join the fight for freedom in Isger. The Hellbreakers Player's Guide has also been introduced, though full details haven't been released yet. On a less celebratory note, PaizoCon Online has been canceled for 2026, and Paizo has announced a PDF price increase, citing more than three years without an adjustment and rising development, art, and production costs.
