Goa resort launches beachfront pickleball fiesta with four new courts
Sunset points, four beachfront courts, and seven doubles draws make Caravela’s April 18-19 pickleball fiesta more than a resort add-on.

Sunset pickleball with the Arabian Sea in view is the kind of detail that can turn a Goa stay from a beach break into a booked-around-it trip. Caravela Beach Resort in South Goa is leaning into that pitch hard, unveiling four brand-new professional courts on its beachfront estate for the Caravela Sunset Pickleball Fiesta on April 18-19, 2026.
The setup is simple and smart: give travelers a reason to come for the courts, not just squeeze in a casual hit between pool time and dinner. Caravela is working with Courtly and event curator Adi Oberoi, and the format is built to feel like a destination event rather than a one-off exhibition. Seven doubles categories will run across the weekend, opening the draw to beginner players as well as stronger pairs who want real competition.
That wider field matters. The debut edition reportedly pulled 150 players from across India, and this year’s edition is expected to draw more than 200 participants from India and beyond. For a resort playbook, that is the difference between a novelty activation and a room-nights machine. Couples can treat it as an active getaway, friend groups can build a whole weekend around matches and beach time, and serious players can justify the trip because the courts are part of the property, not an afterthought tucked behind the parking lot.
Caravela is also making a broader hospitality bet: Goa can be sold as a year-round active-lifestyle destination, not only a seasonal sun-and-sand stop. That is where pickleball fits cleanly. Business Standard said the sport now has more than 36 million players worldwide, a scale that helps explain why luxury resorts are racing to add courts, branded formats, and social events that feel closer to a lifestyle festival than a standard tournament.
Goa has already shown the formula can work. Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa hosted what was billed as the state’s first luxury sundowner pickleball tournament on April 5-6, 2025, at the Aguada Pickleball Arena, with coverage pointing to 150-200 top players from Goa, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and beyond. Adi Oberoi was tied to that event as secretary of the Goa Pickleball Association, a sign that this new circuit is developing real momentum rather than just another hotel-side experiment.
The court details matter too. USA Pickleball says a regulation court measures 20 feet by 44 feet, and outdoor courts should run north-south to cut sun glare. On a beachfront property in South Goa, those are not minor specs. They are the difference between a pretty setup and a court package that can actually hold up through late-afternoon play and a sunset finish.
