Huang Youzheng and Shi Xunyao Claim Second WTT Mixed Doubles Title in Taiyuan
Huang Youzheng and Shi Xunyao beat top-seeded Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi Kem 3-1 in the final, winning their second WTT Series mixed doubles title on Chinese soil.

Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi Kem carried the No. 1 seed into the mixed doubles final at the WTT Contender Taiyuan 2026. They left without the title. Huang Youzheng and Shi Xunyao, seeded second, put them away 3-1 on home soil at the Taiyuan Binhe Sports Center, with games reading 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7, to claim their second WTT Series mixed doubles crown.
The structure of the win is worth examining. Huang and Shi took the first two games at margins of four and two points respectively, never allowing Wong and Doo to settle. In mixed doubles, controlling the pace through the first two games forces the opposition into a reactive posture, and that is precisely what the Chinese pair achieved. The first ball was theirs in games 1 and 2 more often than not.
Game 3 broke that pattern sharply. Wong and Doo won 11-6, a five-point margin that signals a genuine adjustment rather than a lucky run. In mixed doubles at this level, a swing that wide inside one game usually traces back to a changed serve direction or a calculated swap in who covers the middle ball on transition. Whatever Wong and Doo changed worked completely in that game. The question for Huang and Shi was whether they had an answer.
They did. Game 4 closed at 11-7, the same margin as game 1, and the title was theirs. The ability to absorb a loss that lopsided and restore control in the very next game, without losing the tactical thread, is the practical marker that separates title-winning pairs from semifinalists.
It is their second WTT Series mixed doubles title together, having previously won at WTT Contender Almaty. The Taiyuan result carries extra weight: won on Chinese soil against the event's highest-seeded pair, at an eighth-round-of-the-season tournament carrying a $100,000 prize pool.
Notably, Shi Xunyao had faced a difficult afternoon in individual competition, falling to Japan's Hitomi Sato in women's singles. The mixed doubles final was a different story entirely.
The WTT Contender Taiyuan 2026 runs through April 12, with men's and women's singles finals still to be decided. Huang and Shi have already made their mark on the week.
