The Federazione Italiana Tennistavolo (FITET) announced the tournament, describing it as a key stop on the ITTF World Para Circuit at the Challenger tier. With competition beginning tomorrow, the Italian coastal city on the Adriatic will host one of the most internationally diverse fields the Challenger circuit has seen, drawing competitors from across six continents.

The ITTF has confirmed the four-day schedule running through Saturday, with the event listed officially under the World Para Circuit calendar. At the Challenger level, tournaments like this one serve as critical ranking opportunities for para athletes working their way up the international circuit, sitting below the top-tier World Para Table Tennis Championships but above regional events in terms of prestige and points potential.
