Protoje dropped "Goddess" on March 20, his fourth single from the forthcoming seventh studio album The Art of Acceptance, and for the first time officially brought Shenseea into his world. That the two Saint Elizabeth natives had never formally collaborated before makes the link-up feel even more overdue.

Produced by Phillip "Winta" James, the track lands closer to a soulful meditation than anything built for a soundsystem clash. Winta James, the same architect behind "Who Knows" and "Switch It Up," brings his layered instrumentation and clean production to a dynamic vocal exchange: Protoje working in what's been called his "contemporary reggae poetry" mode, and Shenseea stepping into a noticeably more melodic register, pulling back from the high-octane energy that defines much of her dancehall catalog. The result is a polished blend of roots-reggae soul and modern crossover influence, with Shenseea's "Queen of Skill" range on full display in a space that suits a different side of her voice. The lyrics put the track's intent plainly: "Yes, I'ma Goddess better know yuh haffi try your hardest / Want something real inna times like these."

The song arrives as the momentum behind The Art of Acceptance continues to build. The first three singles, "BIG 45," "Feel It," and "At We Feet," have already combined for more than 12 million streams across digital platforms. "Goddess" is the fourth, and the album itself drops April 17 via Ineffable Records in partnership with Protoje's In.Digg.Nation Collective, with a collaborator list that includes Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Masicka, Jesse Royal, and Pressure Busspipe.

Protoje is Grammy-nominated and has been profiled in Rolling Stone, The FADER, and Vogue, with television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and NPR's Tiny Desk Concert cementing his reach well beyond the reggae space. "Goddess" makes the case that the April release is shaping up to be one of his most expansive projects yet.
