Stonebwoy has secured eight nominations at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, placing him second on the overall nominations table behind only Black Sherif, who leads the pack with nine nods. The haul confirms the BHIM Nation boss as one of the dominant forces at this year's ceremony, with his range across Afropop, highlife, and reggae/dancehall reflected in the spread of categories where his name appears.

Three of the eight nominations are confirmed: Artist of the Year, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste, and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song for "Torcher." That last category is one of the more competitive fields in the reggae/dancehall space at this year's TGMA. The official nominees list posted by Ghana Music on Instagram shows five entries: Moliy, Skilibeng, Silent Addy, and Shenseea collaborating on "Shake It To Max"; Stonebwoy solo on "Torcher"; Cina Soul and Stonebwoy on "Larger Than Life"; Arathejay and Stonebwoy on "Talisman"; and Amerado with "Pharaoh." Stonebwoy appears in three of those five nominations, which alone gives a sense of how deeply embedded he is in the category.

The Songwriter of the Year nominees, visible in event materials published around March 14, include both Black Sherif and Stonebwoy, the latter credited in connection with "Send Them a Prayer." Ko-Jo Cue and Obinim also appear in that category alongside several other Ghanaian artists.

The Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste category, meanwhile, lists Samini and Ras Kuuku among the competitors Stonebwoy will face for the trophy. That three-way contest between some of Ghana's most established reggae and dancehall artists makes it one of the more anticipated outcomes of the night.

Black Sherif's nine nominations keep him one step ahead of Stonebwoy in the overall count, and his appearance in the Songwriter of the Year field signals the breadth of his nominations as well. The 27th TGMA is shaping up as a genuine two-horse race at the top of the nominations table, with the rest of the field watching closely.
