EA gave Sims 4 Makers the green light to resell repurposed DLC meshes in the Marketplace, meaning players could pay again for content from packs they already own.

The question community member felixfae flagged in a Discord Q&A with EA Community Managers was direct: "do makers need to own the rights for the models they upload to the marketplace? or can you use models from other sources?" The answer, according to SimsCommunity's reporting, was yes to the latter. EA's Community Managers confirmed that Makers in the Sims 4 Maker Program can repurpose assets from paid DLC in their Marketplace items, provided no third-party intellectual property is infringed.

The clarification came as the Spring Wardrobe Maker Set by creator Oakiyo had already drawn community scrutiny. Listed at 400 Moola (4 USD), the set contains 17 Create-A-Sim items, roughly seven of which appear to be repurposed meshes from existing releases including The Sims 4 Incheon Arrivals Kit, the High School Years Expansion, and other non-paid content. The real purchase cost is closer to 5 USD: Moola is sold in increments of 500, so buyers spend a minimum of 5 USD regardless of the listed 400 Moola price.

SimsCommunity's read of EA's position is unambiguous: "anything released for The Sims 4 so far can be repurposed and sold again as an additional paid Maker Set." For players who already own the Incheon Arrivals Kit or High School Years Expansion, that means paying a second time for ported meshes from packs already in their library.

The Maker Program launched on March 17, 2026 for PC and Mac, with PlayStation and Xbox support to follow. Makers receive a 30% revenue share paid through Moola: for every 100 Moola spent, a creator earns $0.30, compared with the 50% to 70% Roblox creators retain. EA said it covers "all costs and fees associated with publishing," including platform fees, VAT taxes, and server costs, and will translate every Maker Pack into 18 supported languages. Packs contain between three and 30 assets, and EA said Makers will have "creative ownership of their work and decide how their content is packaged and priced, within the Marketplace guidelines."

A tension sits in EA's stated policies. The official program terms say "content made available elsewhere is not eligible for sale on the marketplace," a line that sits uneasily beside the Discord Q&A's green light on repurposing paid DLC. No verbatim EA statement reconciling those two positions has been published. The earlier official Sims 4 Marketplace Q&A noted The Sims Team would supply Base Game stencils and assets to support original creation, but left open whether paid DLC could be ported until felixfae surfaced the Discord exchange.

Before spending Moola, run this check: compare the listed asset count against the price and scan any CAS or Build/Buy preview images for pieces matching content from Kits or Expansions you already own. Convert the Moola price to USD before purchasing, because Moola's minimum 500-unit increment means a 400 Moola item costs 5 USD at checkout, not 4 USD. Confirm the content was not previously distributed through mods or Patreon, since EA's policy bars previously distributed content from Marketplace sale. And note that whether buyers need to own the source DLC to use a repurposed Maker item remains a question the Discord Q&A did not resolve, leaving a meaningful gap in the policy picture two weeks into the program's run.
