The newest Sims 4 patch left a frustrating hole in one of the game’s most-used screens: Create a Sim on console would not scroll and select normally in the broad Show All catalog view. That meant Xbox and PlayStation players trying to browse tops, bottoms, long hair, hats, necklaces, boots, or tank tops could get stuck before they even reached the outfit they wanted.

The bug hit after the May 12 base-game update rolled out to PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. EA had framed that patch cycle as a major one, with the May 5 Laundry List promising “150+ fixes and new features,” and the company said those changes were driven by top EA Forums issues plus feedback from Discord and Reddit. One of the headline additions was a new Create a Sim layering feature, which made the console CAS screen an especially important part of the update.

Players quickly began reporting the problem in the EA Forums console thread, with complaints coming from both Xbox and PS5. The Sims Direct Team has already acknowledged the bug and said it was actively investigating the reports. For players in the middle of a wardrobe rebuild, a Sim makeover, or a quick household edit, the issue lands where it hurts most: in the basic act of picking clothes and accessories.

There is a temporary workaround, but it is only partial. Instead of staying in the wide Show All category, players can switch into narrower subcategories such as jackets or tank tops, where item selection still works in some cases. That can get a household dressed, but it does not solve the underlying scrolling failure, and it does not restore the smooth catalog browsing console players expect from CAS.

The timing also raises a familiar question for The Sims on console. EA has long used its dedicated console feedback thread to judge how widespread a problem is, and the company has said bug reports involving console controls or UI should move into the Bug Report forum so teams can triage them properly. That process matters, because console users do not have the same escape hatches PC players often lean on when an update breaks something, whether that is mods, shortcuts, or a quick community fix.

The pattern is hard to miss. EA was already tracking a separate console issue in 2025, and now another patch has turned CAS into a snag for Xbox and PlayStation players. For the Simmers who just wanted to scroll, click, and move on, the latest update managed to break the simplest part of dressing a Sim.
