The Sims FreePlay is fixing post-update bugs, crashes, and Sunset Mall issues

Sunset Mall is still the sore spot, Laura Craft is vanishing for some players, Super Yacht placement is misfiring, and crashes are dragging down the latest Sims FreePlay build. The official Sims FreePlay account has said work is underway on the post-update problems, and the issue list reads like a player-impact tracker, not a minor glitch roundup.

The clearest pain points are coming straight from players. On the EA Forums, one report says Sunset Mall is stuck at section 4, while another says ground-floor activities will not interact at all. Laura Craft is causing a different kind of frustration, with players asking how she works in events and saying she disappeared after purchase. Super Yacht complaints are just as specific, including a case where a player said they completed the Fantasia task but still got a message telling them to finish building another house first. For anyone trying to push through progression content, those are not cosmetic bugs. They block the thing FreePlay is built around: moving a save forward.

This is not the first time stability has been part of the game’s maintenance cycle. EA’s July 21, 2025 patch notes said a memory corruption fix should reduce crashes and improve stability across all Android devices. EA’s April 20, 2026 patch notes followed the same pattern, calling out general performance improvements and fixes for crash-prone behavior. That matters because it shows the current problems are part of a recurring live-service grind, where each patch can clean up one set of headaches and expose another.

The bigger picture is that FreePlay is still being actively tuned. EA’s news page has kept pace with frequent updates through May 29, 2026, including the May 2026 On The Case: Heist Stakes update. The game itself dates back to December 14, 2011, and the maintenance style has stayed the same for years: patch, fix, repeat, then patch again when a new round of bugs breaks through.

For now, the smartest read on the current build is simple. If Sunset Mall, Laura Craft, Super Yacht placement, or random crashes are part of your save right now, the game is still in one of its rougher post-update stretches. EA Help remains the official support path, and the patch trail suggests the fixes are coming, but this is not a clean bill of health yet.
