Dallas police link Linfield Road shooting death to named suspect

Dallas police said the June 26 shooting on Linfield Road left 31-year-old Lee Womack Jr. dead and tied the killing to 21-year-old Jermiah Savage, a suspect who was already arrested on outside warrants. Investigators said the case will be referred to a grand jury as they continue building the homicide file.

Officers were called to the 3300 block of Linfield Road at about 2:25 a.m., in south Dallas near Illinois Avenue and I-45. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene, where Womack died. The case is being documented as 092425-2026, and the Dallas Police Department listed Det. F. Silva, badge #10422, as the contact investigator. The preliminary investigation identified Savage as the shooter. A separate account of the incident said the violence began after a gathering inside one of the apartments, when two men got into a fight and one pulled out a gun. That account fits the basic framework police have already laid out: a late-night disturbance inside an apartment complex, a shooting call, a dead victim, and a named suspect identified before the case moved into the grand jury phase.

Savage’s arrest on outside warrants gave detectives a suspect already in custody while the homicide inquiry continued. Dallas police have not publicly laid out a motive, a weapon type, or whether additional people were involved, leaving those questions open as investigators review statements and other evidence from the scene. What is already established is the chain from the apartment complex to the death investigation, and from that investigation to a suspect name.

For Womack’s family and the Linfield Road neighborhood, the case now turns on what happened inside the apartment before the gunfire and what prosecutors decide to present next. The shooting that began with a 2:25 a.m. call now has a victim, a suspect, and a formal path toward grand jury review.
