Joseph Garrett Duggar, 31, faces a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 12 years old, according to an arrest affidavit from the Bay County Sheriff's Office in Panama City, Florida. The former TLC reality star, who appeared on "19 Kids and Counting" from 2008 until its cancellation in 2015, was taken into custody in Tontitown, Arkansas, on March 18, 2026, then waived extradition to face the Florida charge.

The case broke open when a now-14-year-old girl came forward about what the affidavit describes as repeated abuse during a 2020 family vacation to Panama City Beach. Police officers in Tontitown interviewed the 14-year-old girl, who told them Duggar had molested her several times during a family trip to Panama City Beach when she was age 9. According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office, the victim said Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap and touched her thighs, underwear and genitals while sitting on the couch during the vacation. The affidavit states that Duggar "covered the parties with a blanket" before proceeding to "pull the victim's dress up" and inappropriately touch her, and that the incidents made the victim feel "uncomfortable and confused."

Investigators determined that the victim's father confronted Duggar about these incidents on March 17, 2026. "Duggar admitted his actions to the victim's father and to Tontitown Detectives," the Bay County Sheriff's Office said. Tontitown officers then had the father call Duggar with a detective on the line, and Duggar again admitted to the actions, the arrest affidavit said. Authorities in Bay County, Florida, now have 30 days to transfer him from the jail in Washington County, Arkansas.

The Florida charge was not the only legal exposure Duggar faced that week. After Tontitown police contacted sheriff's deputies in the Florida Panhandle, the Bay County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant, which Tontitown officers executed at approximately 3 p.m. on March 18. Two days later, on March 20, the Tontitown Police Department announced separate Arkansas state charges against both Joseph and his wife Kendra Duggar, 27: four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. Those Arkansas charges are unrelated to the Florida molestation case. Police issued an arrest warrant for Kendra, who was released soon after her arrest on a $1,470 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

On Friday, March 20, Joseph waived his right to an extradition hearing, setting in motion his transfer to Florida to face the child molestation charge. He did not enter a plea at his first court appearance that day and remained held without bail at the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, pending the transfer.

The arrest lands against an already grim backdrop for the Duggar family name. TLC canceled "19 Kids and Counting" in 2015 following allegations that Josh Duggar had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter years earlier. Josh Duggar was sentenced in 2022 to about 12 1/2 years in prison on one count each of receiving and possessing images portraying child sexual abuse. A follow-up series, "Counting On," was canceled after Josh Duggar's arrest.

In a statement, the family of Jill Duggar Dillard, Joseph Duggar's sister, said it was "shocked and heartbroken" to learn of the arrests. No other members of the Duggar family or TLC responded to requests for comment. The Tontitown Police Department said in a statement that the investigation remains open. No attorney for Joseph or Kendra Duggar had been publicly identified as of the time of reporting.
