Texas cold case arrest, wife accused in 2002 murder of husband
A 24-year cold case finally broke open in Frisco, where police arrested Lisa Honrud and accused her of killing her husband, Frank Weiss, in 2002.

Frisco police say a murder that sat cold for 24 years finally gave way to an arrest, with investigators taking Lisa Honrud, 55, into custody and accusing her of killing her husband, Frank Weiss, in 2002.
Police said Honrud, a Waxahachie resident, was arrested at about 7:47 a.m. on April 20, 2026, in coordination with the Waxahachie Police Department. The Frisco Police Department tied the case to call for service number 2026-00000003 and the original report number 02026961, a paper trail that stretches back to the early days of the investigation.
Weiss, a Plano resident, was found dead near Lake Lewisville within Frisco city limits. Police said Honrud was married to Weiss at the time of the killing, giving the case its stark domestic angle and making the wife the focus of the renewed probe after years of silence.
What cracked the file open was not one dramatic tip, but a combination of developments investigators say finally lined up. Frisco police credited advancements in investigative techniques, modern technology, and new information from a key witness with producing enough evidence to secure an arrest warrant. In a true-crime sense, it is the kind of cold-case turnaround that usually depends on patience, old evidence being reexamined, and one person finally deciding to talk.

Frisco Chief David Shilson said the Weiss family had waited 24 years for answers and framed the arrest as a step toward justice. He also thanked investigators and the Waxahachie Police Department for helping bring the case to this point.
The arrest does not end the story. It moves the case from a dormant homicide file into the criminal court process, where prosecutors will have to lay out how the new evidence, witness information, and updated forensic work connect Honrud to Weiss’s death. Police have not publicly detailed the precise forensic method or the exact witness information that triggered the arrest.
