EA SPORTS FC 26 adds 48-team international tournament mode

EA SPORTS FC 26 just got the kind of international mode that gives national-team obsessives something concrete to grind through instead of a half-baked seasonal tie-in. The World’s Game update added a 48-team tournament built around 53 fully licensed national teams, with 41 of those sides active in summer competition, and it immediately makes FC feel closer to the real scale of international football.

That matters because FC has long leaned on club depth, but international play has often felt lighter by comparison. Here, EA gave the mode a proper tournament structure: three group-stage matches, then a round of 32, then the knockout run to the final. It is the sort of setup that makes Brazil, England, Germany, Mexico, Canada, the United States, Uruguay, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Australia feel like actual pathways to a trophy rather than menu wallpaper.

The authenticity push goes beyond the bracket. EA said the mode is backed by official kits, crests, and player likenesses, along with new true-to-life venues such as Gillette Stadium and BMO Field, plus a new arena called Central Maw. EA also folded in more than 50 licensed nations for one-off Kick Off international matches, which is the bigger win for players who just want to pick a country and get to work without committing to a full tournament run.

That breadth is where this update hits hardest. Fans of national teams that usually get sidelined in sports games, especially in North America, Asia, and the broader international football audience, get far more representation than FC has typically offered in its post-FIFA era. EA Sports FC launched after the company ended its long-running FIFA partnership in 2022, and this update feels like a reminder that licensing and authenticity are still the series’ most valuable currency.

The broader FC 26 package is still doing the heavy lifting around it, with more than 20,000 players spread across 750-plus clubs and national teams, over 120 stadiums, and 35 leagues. EA also tied the update into Festival of Football content, and anyone who logs in and plays between June 5 and July 24 unlocks a 93 OVR Festival of Football ICON Pelé plus three Choose Your Journey Evolutions. EA’s support page says players can set up and manage their team, progress through the World’s Game Tournament Mode, and choose whether to play or simulate matches.

For once, the summer event dressing does more than decorate the calendar. It gives FC 26 a national-team mode with real stakes, real licensed representation, and a bracket that actually feels like it belongs in the sport.
