During a Just Chatting stream on March 10, 2026, RaKai was messaging several celebrities on Instagram seeking collaboration when he revealed private messages between himself and Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, in which Ball had shared a phone number with him. As he scrolled through the chat, fans got a glimpse of Ball's personal number. Immediately realizing his mistake, RaKai closed the chat and asked his moderators to delete the clip.

Twitch temporarily banned RaKai on March 14, 2026, with his suspension confirmed to last until April 13, 2026. During a subsequent YouTube livestream, RaKai showed his Twitch dashboard, which displayed the violation as "Sharing Personal Information," dated March 14, 2026, carrying a 720-day expiration. The notice stated the violation will remain on his account until March 3, 2028, and warned that he could receive "escalated consequences" for any similar rule break before that date. The dashboard also showed a 30-day streaming suspension set to end April 13, 2026. Under Twitch's new rules, RaKai is unable to use the website or its chat function for the entire duration of the suspension.

On March 15, 2026, RaKai hosted a YouTube livestream titled "BANNED ON TWITCH." At the five-minute mark, the 17-year-old disclosed that Twitch banned him for "sharing personal information." He pushed back on the severity of the punishment, arguing the leak was unintentional. On stream he said: "I think why they banned me is because I leaked his number. Okay, ban me for one day on Twitch. Ban me for one day. One day. All right, my bad, I've been a bad boy. Okay. But, chat, it wasn't, like, I was like, 'Oh, my god, chat, look, chat, this LaMelo Ball number!'"

The platform made clear it would not treat the incident lightly. RaKai recounted his conversation with his Twitch rep: "No! I told my Twitch rep that. They said, 'None of that can do.' And they also said, if I banned ever again, I will get permanently banned, for like, life. That's what they told me, bro."

RaKai also posted on X, tagging Ball's handle @MELOD1P with the message "NOOOO WAY im sorry." No public response from Ball has been reported.

RaKai, real name Quvonn Rakai Linder, became one of Twitch's biggest rising stars in 2025, regularly linking up with the likes of Kai Cenat and AMP. The 17-year-old was banned at the end of 2025, claiming it was a two-year suspension, but Twitch clarified it was a "visual bug" and allowed him back onto the platform in early 2026. This March ban is the consequence that one was not. RaKai is now on a two-year probation, meaning any repeat violation during that window could result in more serious consequences, including a permanent ban.

Fellow streamer Tylil also weighed in on the suspension during his own stream, calling the 30-day ban "crazy" and comparing RaKai's situation to IShowSpeed's early streaming days, arguing the teenager had no harmful intent. Whether Twitch will show the same leniency it did in late 2025 is a different question entirely. RaKai himself admits he is now one strike away from a permanent suspension.
