Space Marine 2 reaches 12 million players, adds third year of free support
Space Marine 2 has hit 12 million players and Saber Interactive is carrying free support into a third year. Patch 13 adds a practice arena and cross-class wargear that change daily play.

Space Marine 2 is no longer being treated like a tidy licensed launch with a fixed shelf life. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have now pushed the game into a third year of free support, while the community update tied that decision to a milestone few Warhammer shooters ever reach: 12 million players.
That number lands with extra force because Space Marine 2 only launched on September 9, 2024. The game had already moved from launch excitement into a much longer rhythm of updates by the time it hit 2 million players early on, then kept growing through free content drops like the Trygon and Techmarine updates and the Year 2 roadmap. The message from the studio is clear now: this is not a one-and-done campaign box with a multiplayer mode attached. It is a live platform with enough momentum to justify carrying postponed Year 2 content into a full third year of support, still free for everyone.

Patch 13 is the point where that long tail starts to change how the game feels on a normal night of play. Its biggest addition is cross-class wargear, beginning with cloaks and Iron Halos, so players can start mixing cosmetic and customization pieces across the roster instead of treating every class as a locked wardrobe. Patch 14 is expected to widen that system further with tabards and robes, but Patch 13 is the moment the door opens. For players who like to tinker with loadouts and identity as much as damage output, that matters.
The patch also adds a Practice Arena on the Battle Barge, and that may be the most important quality-of-life change of the lot. A solo space to test weapons, compare damage, and learn loadouts should make it much easier to understand what actually works before stepping into a mission or a harder operation. In a game built on class synergy, that kind of friction removal is the difference between experimenting once and sticking around.
Patch 13 also brings new pressure for veterans. Trials of Resolve adds harsh progression challenges, including objectives like completing an Operation 100 times or killing three Majoris-or-higher enemies with a single headshot on Absolute difficulty. Siege Mode is being overhauled with modifiers, a revised timer, new bosses including the Hive Tyrant and Vortex Beast, and new shop items. The patch also includes the Iron Hands Chapter Pack as part of Season Pass 2, three new Heroic weapon variants, six armor pieces, and a Bolt Carbine sidearm for Bulwark and Assault.
For anyone who drifted away after launch, this is the strongest signal yet to come back. Space Marine 2 now has the player count, the free support plan, and the practical tools to make each session feel more worth the time.
