Warhammer Launches Million Miniatures Challenge and Call to Arms

Games Workshop announced two linked initiatives to boost hobby participation in early 2026: the Million Miniatures Challenge invites players to pledge painting targets at local Warhammer stores beginning 17 January, while the Call to Arms referral scheme rewards players who introduce newcomers starting 3 January. Both programs tie rewards to local store activity, cover all Warhammer systems, and aim to bring more people into building, painting and playing.

Games Workshop rolled out two community-focused programs designed to bring more people into Warhammer hobbying and local store scenes in early 2026. The Million Miniatures Challenge and the Call to Arms referral scheme both run through participating Warhammer stores and pair simple, trackable goals with physical rewards and in-store events.

The Million Miniatures Challenge opens for pledges at stores on 17 January 2026 and runs through a celebration event on 9 May. Players can pledge to paint 25+, 50+ or 100+ models by the celebration date. Stores will record pledges on hub posters and hand out activity cards so you can track progress in person. Milestone rewards at the 9 May celebration are cumulative while stocks last: a pin badge for 25+, a purity-seal water pot stand at 50+, and a paint-brush tin for 100+. The program is deliberately ambitious; organisers point out that if 10,000 people each finished 100 miniatures, the community would hit a million painted figures.

Call to Arms launches slightly earlier, on 3 January 2026, and aims to convert social connections into new hobbyists. The scheme uses a sticker-and-reward system: you earn stickers for introducing new people who engage with the hobby, with extra stickers if your referral picks up starter sets or Combat Patrol/Spearhead boxes. Rewards escalate by tier, Bronze for introducing one new person, Silver for three, and Gold for five, corresponding to a pin badge, a gaming dashboard, and a brush holder. The program is designed to sit alongside local store anniversaries and any commemorative miniature giveaways stores may run.

Both initiatives apply across Warhammer systems, including Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, and are built to involve both regular players and people new to the hobby. For store managers the programs provide a turnkey way to drive foot traffic, mark local events, and encourage painting and play nights. For players the mechanics are straightforward: pledge, paint, track, and bring friends along.

To take part, visit a participating Warhammer store when the sign-ups open, stores will have hub posters and activity cards to get you started. Be aware that milestone awards are subject to stock availability, so early sign-up and steady participation will increase the chance you secure the rewards. These linked initiatives offer a practical route to build community momentum in your area and add new faces to local gaming tables.
