Ucross is inviting people onto its 20,000-acre ranch in northern Wyoming for something that feels closer to an arts retreat than a standard park class: hourlong yoga sessions at The Park at Ucross and guided Confluences sound hikes across the land. The new summer programming ties movement, landscape, and quiet into the same visit, using the ranch itself as the setting and the experience.

Yoga in the Park at Ucross is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, Saturday, July 11, and Saturday, August 22. Each class begins at 10 a.m., lasts one hour, and is open to all levels. Instructor Tressa Lawrence will lead the sessions, and each class carries a $10 entrance fee that includes the yoga class, a beverage at the Ucross Café, and an entry into a raffle for a Ucross tote. Registration is required, and Ucross says attendees should bring water, their own yoga mat or towel, and extra layers because the program is weather-dependent.

The yoga offering is designed to feel rooted in place. The Park at Ucross, created in 2011, has become a public gathering space for artists, visitors, travelers, and neighbors, with an interdenominational chapel and the Johansen Memorial Gardens as part of the landscape. That setting gives the classes a different character from studio yoga or a quick session in a city park. Here, the draw is not just the pose work. It is the chance to practice on a ranch long associated with artistic residency, open space, and the High Plains of Wyoming.

The sound hikes extend that idea even further. Confluences is an emplaced sound experience created by Ucross Fellows Teri Rueb and Laurids Sonne, available through a free downloadable app for iOS and Android. Ucross says guided Confluences hikes are two-hour experiences on private trails, giving walkers a way to move through the ranch while listening to the land in a more contemplative format than a typical fitness outing. It is a program built for people who want their wellness time to feel scenic, reflective, and a little less structured.

The broader mission behind the offering has been in place for decades. Ucross was founded in 1981, its residency program began in 1983, and the organization says it has supported nearly 3,000 artists. Its stated purpose is to provide uninterrupted time, studio space, living accommodations, and the experience of the High Plains to artists. By opening the ranch for yoga and sound hikes, Ucross is extending that mission outward, turning a working arts residency into a place where the public can step into the same quiet that draws artists back to the ranch.
