Dean’s Jewelry Brings One-of-a-Kind Gemstones to Mother’s Day Event
Dean’s Jewelry is putting David Artinian’s one-of-a-kind gemstones in front of Mother’s Day shoppers, with traceability and rarity at the center of the pitch.

Dean’s Jewelry is turning Mother’s Day shopping into a gemstone counter conversation, with gem hunter David Artinian set to bring hundreds of hand-selected stones to Coshocton on April 23 and Mount Vernon on April 24. The retailer says the “Every Shade of You” event will feature an expanded selection of gemstones from around the world, giving shoppers a rare chance to hear directly about how stones are sourced, graded and priced before they are set into a custom pendant or ring.
The timing matters. Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday in May, and Dean’s Jewelry is leaning into the stretch between spring and the holiday gift rush with a one-on-one format that puts color, rarity and origin ahead of mass-market convenience. The company is urging guests to arrive early, saying quantities are limited and the gemstones are one-of-a-kind, the kind of inventory that disappears quickly once a particular color or cut is gone.
For shoppers trying to buy with more confidence, the event is a useful reminder to ask the questions that separate a beautiful stone from a meaningful one. Where was it mined? How was it cut? Can the seller explain the chain of custody? In colored gemstones, those answers matter because the supply chain is notoriously difficult to trace. The Gemological Institute of America has noted that colored gemstone mining and production spans 47 countries, and that ethical, sustainable mine-to-market traceability remains a challenge. That is exactly why a direct conversation with a dealer like Artinian can be more valuable than a polished case display.
Artinian Gems says it specializes in bringing fine gemstones from mine to market, and the American Gem Society says David Artinian and his team have spent 25 years supplying retail jewelers with finely cut, one-of-a-kind stones and event-driven programs built around custom design. That background gives Dean’s Jewelry’s event a sharper edge than a standard trunk show: the focus is not just on buying a pretty gem, but on understanding why one stone costs more than another, what makes a color truly rare and how a gem will perform in daily wear.
Dean’s Jewelry itself has deep local roots. The company calls itself a third-generation local business and says Dean Turner founded it in 1965. Local coverage has said the original Mount Vernon location opened in 2007 and moved into a larger store in 2024. Today, the Mount Vernon shop is listed at 1573 Coshocton Ave. in Mount Vernon, a fitting home for a family jeweler trying to make provenance part of the Mother’s Day story.
