Three women allegedly hit Catbird's SoHo boutique at 253 Centre St. around 2 p.m., walked out with roughly $31,000 in jewelry, and were back at work four hours later in Williamsburg. By the end of the day, the NYPD says, the trio had stripped three jewelry stores of approximately $41,500 in merchandise without raising a single alarm until they were gone.

The alleged method was the same at each location: two of the women engaged a female employee in conversation to create a distraction while the third removed jewelry from unlocked display cases. At the SoHo Catbird, that third woman allegedly lifted jewelry valued at $31,000 from an unlocked case before the group fled. The distraction technique required no tools, no threats, and left no one injured.

That evening, the crew allegedly crossed into Brooklyn. At approximately 6:10 p.m., they entered Catbird's Williamsburg location at 108 N. Seventh St. and repeated the same routine, taking roughly $7,000 in jewelry from a display case on the countertop. Police say the trio fled on foot eastbound on North Seventh Street. Forty-five minutes later, at 6:55 p.m., they were allegedly inside Gorjana at 138 N. Sixth St., also in Williamsburg, where they removed an additional $3,500 in jewelry before fleeing again.

The itemized losses across the three stores — $31,000, $7,000, and $3,500 — total $41,500. The NYPD and multiple outlets have reported the figure as "over $41,000."

Police released surveillance footage and photos on March 19. Descriptions drawn from those images indicate two of the women have light skin, medium builds, and long hair that is half black and half bleached blonde. The third woman appears to have light skin, a slim build, and long black hair. No names or ages have been reported, and the suspects remain at large.
