Suspect Charged in Kakaako Jewelry Store Robbery, Bail Set at $100,000
Brian Bertoli, 34, was charged with second-degree robbery after smashing display cases and stealing jewelry from The Wedding Ring Shop in Kakaako.

Brian Bertoli, 34, was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree on March 20 in connection with a midday smash-and-grab at The Wedding Ring Shop on Kapiolani Boulevard, with bail set at $100,000.
The robbery occurred at approximately 12:35 p.m. on March 18 at 1181 Kapiolani Blvd., when a man entered the store, threatened employees, smashed multiple display cases, and removed assorted jewelry before fleeing the scene ahead of responding officers. Employees were not injured.
Honolulu Police Department officers did not locate the suspect at the scene. The investigation advanced the following day when, on March 19, HPD identified Bertoli and found him already in police custody on unrelated offenses. He was placed under arrest for Robbery in the Second Degree. The department noted at that point that "charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing."

Formal charges came on March 20. At 3:30 p.m., HPD announced it had charged the suspect and that bail had been set at $100,000. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser identified the suspect by name and age in its March 20 reporting.
No inventory of the stolen jewelry has been released, and no dollar value for the loss has been provided by police or the store. The investigation remains active.
