Brian Bertoli, 34, was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree on March 20 in connection with a midday smash-and-grab at The Wedding Ring Shop on Kapiolani Boulevard, with bail set at $100,000.

The robbery occurred at approximately 12:35 p.m. on March 18 at 1181 Kapiolani Blvd., when a man entered the store, threatened employees, smashed multiple display cases, and removed assorted jewelry before fleeing the scene ahead of responding officers. Employees were not injured.

Honolulu Police Department officers did not locate the suspect at the scene. The investigation advanced the following day when, on March 19, HPD identified Bertoli and found him already in police custody on unrelated offenses. He was placed under arrest for Robbery in the Second Degree. The department noted at that point that "charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing."
