Signet Jewelers has launched a podcast called Beyond the Vault, hosted by Colleen Rooney, the company's chief corporate affairs and sustainability officer, with the stated aim of inspiring both Signet employees and the broader jewelry industry. Two episodes had been posted as of March 11, with guests including industry analyst Paul Zimnisky and Susan Jacques, the former president and CEO of the Gemological Institute of America. World Diamond Council president Feriel Zerouki is slated to appear in a future episode.

The initiative is tied to Signet's internal "Grow Brand Love" strategy. "As a team, we were thinking about how do we go about inspiring love through our 'Grow Brand Love' strategy," Rooney said. The podcast's scope reflects an ambition that extends well past corporate communications. Rooney said the guest list might eventually include designers or people from producer countries, framing the series as a supply-chain conversation rather than a corporate bulletin. "We're trying to think about the whole jewelry supply chain," she said.

Rooney, who has worked across multiple industries, positioned the jewelry trade as uniquely suited to this kind of connective storytelling. "I've worked in many different industries, and this industry is the most enjoyable because people really care about it," she said. "It's really deep, in our thoughts. We thought, 'We could really be a great unifier.' It's a really nice time for us to bring people together, because we all have a lot more in common than we have differences."

The early audience has already spilled beyond the trade. When Rooney posted the first episode on LinkedIn, it drew listeners from outside the industry. "It's gotten a little reaction outside of the industry, too, which is nice," she said. "Maybe those folks will think of buying some jewelry. You never know."

Whether Beyond the Vault evolves into something with genuine reach across the supply chain, from miners and designers to retail floor associates, will depend on how ambitiously Signet builds out its guest roster. The inclusion of Jacques, whose tenure at GIA gave her visibility across every tier of the gem and jewelry world, and Zerouki, whose World Diamond Council role puts her at the intersection of trade policy and ethics, suggests Rooney is at least reaching for that breadth.
