Rocket to Saturn Vintage Opens in Pensacola, Curating Estate Jewelry Finds
In a 330-square-foot shop on Palafox, Vanna Smith and Valorie Taylor have made estate jewelry a centerpiece of Pensacola's newest vintage destination.

Pick up a ring from the display cases at Rocket to Saturn Vintage and you're holding something with a past. The 330-square-foot shop at 11 Palafox Place, Suite F in downtown Pensacola opened with a specific conviction: that jewelry, from mid-century costume pieces to vintage fine estate finds, deserves to be seen in person, handled, and inspected before it changes hands.
Owners Vanna Smith and Valorie Taylor built the store by merging their separate vintage businesses, Saturn Collection and Rocket Anyway Vintage, into a single downtown address. Smith's relationship with vintage stretches back to the late 1990s, when she began reselling clothing on eBay after frequenting the now-closed Years Ago-Go Vintage in West Pensacola. "I opened a booth at Miles Antique Mall and gave my shop the name it has now in 2017," she said. Taylor, who relocated to Pensacola and spent years selling at markets and pop-ups across the city, brought her own curatorial eye to the partnership.
The jewelry component of the inventory is deliberate rather than incidental. Display cases hold vintage fine pieces alongside costume jewelry sourced from estates, while jars and boxes of mixed finds line the shelves, the kind of accumulated material that rewards careful inspection for maker's marks, hallmarks, and condition. Staff source and clean the small estate pieces themselves, a hands-on process that shapes how each piece is priced and presented.
At 330 square feet, every inch operates with intention. The inventory rotates, meaning the display case that held a particular brooch or graduated bead strand one week may have turned over entirely by the next visit. That churn is the point: the store functions as a living edit rather than a static stock room. Smith described hunting for the Palafox location as a months-long search. "While the space is petite, it could not be in a better location," she said. "We are so excited to be part of the ecosystem of One Palafox Place and downtown Pensacola."
For shoppers who have grown accustomed to buying vintage jewelry blind online, the shop offers something harder to replicate through a screen: the ability to turn a piece over, read its marks under the light, and know exactly what they're bringing home.
Rocket to Saturn Vintage is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 11 Palafox Place, Suite F. The shop can be reached at rockettosaturnvintage@gmail.com.
