Adams County Libraries Offer Storytime, Makerspace, Food Resources This Week
Adams County has the highest food insecurity rate in the tri-state area at 19.7%; all four public library branches are distributing free IPM FoodLink boxes this week while supplies last.

The food insecurity rate in Adams County sits at 19.7%, the highest in the greater tri-state region according to Feeding America, and Executive Director Nicholas Slone's four-branch public library system is one of the places residents can do something about it: all locations are distributing free IPM FoodLink boxes this week while supplies last.
The boxes contain shelf-stable staples, including rice, beans, canned vegetables, peanut butter, fruit spread, and other essentials, and are available at the North Adams, Peebles, Manchester, and West Union libraries. The library does not list income requirements or eligibility restrictions. Patrons are encouraged to call ahead to confirm inventory before making the trip: Manchester Library at 937-549-3359, North Adams Library at 937-386-2556, Peebles Library at 937-587-2085, and West Union Library at 937-544-2591.
The FoodLink distribution runs alongside a full week of public programming, covering March 29 through April 4, that the library describes as "engaging and accessible" for all ages. Storytime, "a cornerstone of early childhood learning," anchors the schedule at every branch. Morning sessions run at North Adams on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., at Manchester and Peebles on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., and at West Union on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Manchester adds a Thursday evening Storytime at 5 p.m., a slot built specifically to give working families a second window into the week.
Older children have dedicated programming as well. Peebles hosts its Smorgasbord Makerspace on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m., and Manchester runs Crafternoon on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. Families who prefer activities at home can pick up Take-Home Craft Kits at the Manchester branch.

North Adams is also launching a month-long April initiative: patrons are invited to write book reviews for display inside the library, described as "a literacy and civic-participation activity" that highlights the voices and perspectives of local readers.
Family Night events featuring games, movies, and refreshments are available at branch locations as well, though specific dates were not included in this week's schedule.
Programming shifts week to week. For current schedules and to verify IPM FoodLink box availability, call any branch directly.
