North Adams made the first swing matter and the last one count, holding off McClain 10-7 in Greenfield behind a 6-1 start and a pair of late insurance runs that blunted the Lady Tigers’ rally.

The Lady Devils set the tone early, building a 6-1 lead after three innings before adding two more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and another in the seventh. That cushion proved essential as McClain kept finding answers, scoring once in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, then twice more in the seventh to turn the final frame into a tense finish.

North Adams’ power was the difference. Chloe Armstrong homered twice and Paige Evans added another, giving the Lady Devils the kind of extra-base punch that let them stay in front even as McClain kept putting runners on and pressure on the scoreboard. In a game that swung back and forth late, North Adams’ ability to keep matching McClain’s pushes separated a narrow win from a potential collapse.

McClain’s offense did plenty to keep the game alive. Amaya Ryan went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored, while Brie Cummins added two hits and two runs scored. Leah Lovett finished with two hits, and Olivia Stegbauer and Kambriah Tomlin each went deep. Annabelle Pastrimas also added a hit and scored a run, giving McClain a steady stream of production from top to bottom.

The margin also came down to pitching traffic. Kyndee Williams started for McClain and worked 5.2 innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs while striking out two and walking four. Cami Gall finished in relief, giving up two hits and four runs, three earned, in 1.1 innings with one strikeout and four walks. Those extra baserunners mattered against a North Adams lineup that kept cashing in on its chances.

The result gave North Adams back-to-back wins and served as a sharp response after McClain won the teams’ earlier meeting in April 2025. For McClain, the loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 7-10 and extended a four-game skid, a rough stretch coming just as the bracket picture tightened. McClain entered the Southeast District tournament as the No. 9 seed in Division IV, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s May tournament cycle has already moved into district and regional play. For Adams County, the win signaled North Adams is carrying real momentum into the season’s most important stretch.
