Sara Lou Teets of West Union dies at 90; family seeks support
Sara Lou Teets, 90, passed away to her eternal home Feb. 16 at the Adams County Regional Medical Center hospice; visitation and funeral are set for Feb. 20 at Lafferty Funeral Home and the family asks for memorial donations.

Sara Lou Teets, 90, of West Union "passed away to her eternal home on February 16, 2026 at the Adams County Regional Medical Center – Hospice Unit," her obituary says; the family has asked that memorial donations be directed to local and international charities. Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union, with a 1 p.m. funeral the same day officiated by Pastor John Waugh.
Teets was born August 28, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, at White Cross Hospital and spent part of her childhood in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. The obituary notes that while the family lived in Mt. Sterling they "enjoyed attending the Circleville Pumpkin Festival." At age eight the family moved to Malvern in Carroll County, near Canton, so her father could become a school superintendent; she spent seven years in the Malvern School System before her father became the Adams County School Superintendent in 1951. Sara Lou finished her high school years at West Union High School, where she graduated as salutatorian of her class.
Her adult life was rooted in family care and long residence in West Union. The obituary states, "Sara Lou returned to West Union to help her sister care for their mother. Later she was a loyal caregiver to her sister, Anna Lee, throughout her extended illness." The notice adds that "She so enjoyed living in her American Beauty Craftsman Bungalow style home for as long as her health allowed." It also records that she "had many friends and cousins from other states."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Mercer Teets and Letha Fern (Gossett) Teets, and by her sister, Anna Lee Teets, all of West Union. The obituary excerpts provided do not list a spouse, children, grandchildren, or other surviving immediate family by name.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. The obituary includes specific memorial donation instructions: "Memorial donations may be made to the West Union Methodist Church, P.O. Box 518 West Union, OH 45693, Women’s Society earmarked for missions, The international Gideon’s Society, or the Adams/ Brown County branch of the Salvation Army of Cincinnati." The obituary was shared on social media and posted to online death notice services that confirmed the Feb. 16 date and age of 90.
Those planning to attend services today at Lafferty Funeral Home should arrive for visitation between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by the 1 p.m. funeral with Pastor John Waugh officiating.
